I left you all with a cliffhanger ending to 2015 when I announced that I intended for the "next post to be the final one ever", but also left a glimmer of hope when I said that it didn't mean what it might seem at first glance.

What is happening? Is this the end for the blog forever?

It is now time for the thrilling resolution of this potentially shocking scenario...

As I have mentioned several times in the last few weeks, the blog re-read that I've been doing has been a lead-up to another milestone on the blog. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the 150th post! It is also the final post for 2015 (I'm banking on no games next week, otherwise I'm going to break my commitment of blogs every week for the rest of the year).

I didn't realise, but last week marked 5 years since this blog started!
Fortunately, someone else noticed, and at last week's match I was most honoured to be presented with a commemorative calculator.


Complete with a personalised inscription on the back.


I'm told that the Canon LS-80 is from 1982/83 (so it's the same age as me), making the calculator a wonderful and thoughtful momento of the occasion. Thanks Brad and team!

As Gareth said a few weeks ago, it must be about time for another "all time" or "career" stats update. The last time we had one was when we reached 200 matches. Tonight the Popped Collars will play their 248th and 249th matches in a double-header, presumably meaning that next week will see the 250-game milestone reached.

In the beginning, there was a team, and the captain said "Let us take this game a bit more seriously". And there was the Popped Collars. And we saw that it was good. And we kept stats, and started a blog. Readers of this blog know much of the story from that point on - mostly because many readers of this blog are the people that have been playing for that team since then.

But what about before the beginning? What was this team that became the Popped Collars?
This is something I've been planning to do for a while, and after working on it a bit at a time I now have enough to do a bit of a write-up. The information will be on a separate and permanent page which I will update if/when I gather more information, or if/when others provide me with more.

Today marks a grand milestone. I'm not talking about runs scored, wickets taken, or matches played... this, readers, is the 100th post published to the PoppedStats blog! To celebrate the occasion, today's stats are not going to be about performances on the indoor cricket court, but about the blog itself.
