Apparently we were a week early with the use of the word "disgraceful"... here's the stats and records from the most recent game. Warning... this post contains graphic stats which some players may find disturbing. Please refrain from reading further if you do not wish to be reminded of this particular match.
So here we go, a string of tables showing various records that were set (or almost set) during that match. There are undoubtedly more, but what's here is enough sadness for one blog.

Two weeks ago, season 2014 came to an end with It's On Like Donkey Kong defeating Popped Collars in the B-Grade grand final. That match brought to an end the 10th season of existence for the Popped Collars team. In the coming weeks, there will be some blog posts to commemorate the milestone, but before that here are the stats for the season just gone.

In the interest of fairness after our last blog, and with some particularly poor batting performances recently, today we're going to have a look at a bunch of bad batting stats (bowling next week). In our most recent match, we had what can only be described as "a shocker" in the field. Catches went down all over the place, run-outs were missed, balls were fumbled. The result of this was we took only two wickets in the entire innings (also we lost the game). Both of those wickets came in the final over the match - for much of the game it looked like we would not take a wicket at all!
I've written about similar things here before, but since it is topical, here's an updated look at the stats of wickets lost by a team.
I can't be bothered finding the past posts about it... but perhaps you'd like to look yourself using the new "Labels and Topics" section on the right of the page. Use it to browse through all the old posts by topic!

During last week's game, Xavier and Gareth batted through the first pair without loss of a wicket. Brad and Rian went in next; the captain held his wicket in tact while Rian lost his 3 times. Given that Rian is statistically the team's top batsman, we thought it would be amusing if he was the only one to lose a wicket in our entire innings. Matt and Brad in the third pair made sure it didn't play out that way, but it gave me a vague idea for this week's stats.

Brad scored 8 runs off consecutive deliveries, and Xavier was bowled twice in one over. These two events sparked questions - and in the first case, further events - which form the basis of this week's blog. Probably the last for 2012...
